Between Saturday night (28) and Sunday morning (29), the Brazilian delegation won another 15 medals at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Highlights included tennis and slalom canoeing, in which Brazil performed exceptionally well.
In tennis, Brazil stood out in the doubles tournaments, winning two golds and a silver. In the women's doubles, Luísa Stefani and Laura Pigossi, bronze medalists at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, beat Colombia's Fernanda Herazo and Paulina Perez. This historic victory marked the first time since 2003 that Brazil had won gold in the women's doubles at the Pan.
In the women's singles, Laura Pigossi will go for gold against Argentina's Lourdes Carlé. Laura's victory in the semi-final secured her place at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
In the men's doubles, Brazil broke a 24-year losing streak and won the gold medal in the doubles with Marcelo Demoliner and Gustavo Heide. André Sá and Paulo Taicher were the last Brazilians to win the men's doubles competition at the Pan.
In slalom canoeing, Ana Sátila was the big Brazilian star, winning gold in the C1 category (individual canoeing) for the third time. Ana also won the kayak cross event. Guilherme Mapelli won gold in the men's kayak cross.
In CCE equestrian, Brazil won the team bronze medal, securing a place at the Paris Olympics. In the individual competition, Márcio Jorge won the silver medal.
In open water swimming, Ana Marcela Cunha won the silver medal in the ten-kilometer race. The race was challenging due to the low water temperature, but Ana Marcela showed her talent and secured a place on the podium.
In athletics, Caio Bonfim won the silver medal in the 20-kilometer race, making it three Pan American Games medals.
The Brazilian delegation continues to shine at the Pan American Games in Santiago, showing all its skill and talent in various sports.
