And it's an honor to always be alongside my team, representing Brazil, alongside them for more achievements [...]. This gold represents everything. The surfer is already guaranteed a place at the next Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris (France) in 2024.
In stand up paddle (SUP), Brazil also won medals. Aline Adisaka took silver in the women's category after being beaten by Colombian Isabella Gomez in the final. Luiz Diniz won silver in the men's category, beaten by the American Zane Schweitzer.
Aline Adisaka was grateful for the opportunity to represent Brazil and spoke about the difficult sea conditions: "I'm very grateful to God for the opportunity to be here representing my country. Today the sea was intense, with very difficult conditions, and I'm very happy to have made it to this grand final, to have had some good races. I would like to thank everyone who has been by my side to get me this far. I couldn't have got here on my own, but mainly to God. I believe that everything has a purpose. If I've made it this far, it's to leave a message: don't give up on your dreams".
Team Brazil also won medals in the women's longboard. Chloe Calmon took silver, losing out to Peruvian Maria Fernanda Reyes in the final. Carlos Bahia won bronze in the men's category.
