Adryelson called up to the national team
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Saturday (14) that Botafogo defender Adryelson has been called up to replace Nino in the Brazilian national team. Nino suffered an injury to his left knee during training in Montevideo in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.
Adryelson, 25, has been called up to the senior national team for the first time. The player is one of the highlights of the Brazilian league leaders, with the best defense in the competition, having conceded just 16 goals in 26 games. Nino's situation will still be monitored by the CBF and he could miss out on the Libertadores final if his injury is serious.
Worries about Casemiro's absence
In addition to Nino's injury, another concern after Brazil's training session in Uruguay was the absence of midfielder Casemiro. He suffered a blow to his right ankle during the match against Venezuela and did only physiotherapy work, without taking part in training at the Estadio Campeón del Siglo. The rest of the team was divided into groups for tactical and positioning activities.
On Monday (16), the Brazilian national team will hold their last training session before the match against Uruguay at the Estadio Centenario. Brazil currently occupy second place in the South American qualifiers with seven points, behind Argentina who have nine. Uruguay are in fourth place with four points.
