Rio derby: Fluminense face Botafogo in the 26th round of the Brasileirão
Next Sunday, at 4pm, Fluminense host Botafogo at the Maracanã in a classic Brazilian Championship match. The match will be broadcast live on National Radio. After their thrilling qualification for the Copa Libertadores final, the tricolor das Laranjeiras are turning their attention to the final stretch of the Brasileirão. The team is looking to keep up their good performance and secure a good position in the competition, should they not be successful in the Libertadores final, which will take place on November 4 against Boca Juniors, also at the Maracanã.
In recent matches, Fluminense have remained unbeaten at home and have performed well at the Maracanã. However, the last time they lost at home was to Botafogo, on January 29, in the Carioca Championship.
Botafogo, meanwhile, are looking for a win to get back on track in the league. The team has gone four games without a win (three defeats and a draw). After an excellent campaign in the first round, the alvinegro are facing a slump in performance and are looking to get back on track in order to remain in contention for the Brazilian title.
The recent history of Rio derbies shows Fluminense with the advantage, having won five of the last ten meetings, while Botafogo have won three and drawn two.
