The Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) today released the final list of athletes called up for the Parapan American Games, which will be held in Santiago, Chile, from November 17 to 26. Brazil will be represented by 322 athletes from 17 disciplines, as well as nine guide athletes, three swimmers and two goalkeepers.
On Tuesday, 38 swimmers and seven marksmen were called up. The selection of athletes for the Parapan American Games took place over three weeks, with prior announcements of athletes from various disciplines, such as athletics, badminton, wheelchair basketball, boccia, cycling, PC soccer, blind soccer, goalball, judo, weightlifting, wheelchair rugby, taekwondo, wheelchair tennis, table tennis and archery.
Swimming is the second sport with the highest number of athletes, behind athletics (60 athletes). The swimming team is made up of 21 men and 17 women. Among those called up are Paralympic and world champions such as Carol Santiago, Gabriel Araújo, Gabriel Bandeira and Talisson Glock.
In shooting, a sport that will make its debut at the Parapan American Games in Lima 2019, Brazil has called up seven athletes, most notably Alexandre Galgani, the country's only representative at the Tokyo Games.
