Diogo Soares wins silver in men's artistic gymnastics at the Pan American Games in Santiago
Already qualified for Paris 2024 at the World Championships in Antwerp (Belgium) at the beginning of the month, Diogo Soares shone once again on Monday (23) with silver in the men's individual artistic gymnastics at the World Gymnastics Championships. Pan American Games in Santiago (Chile). He scored 81.865 on the six apparatuses (vault, floor, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and fixed bar). Isabela Abreu secures a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the modern pentathlon
The day was also special for Isabela Abreu, from Curitiba, who stamped her passport to Paris 2024 in the modern pentathlon. She finished the event in ninth place and secured one of the South American places at the Olympic Games.

Felipe Simioni Neves wins bronze medal in water skiing
There was also plenty to celebrate for 34-year-old Felipe Simioni Neves, from São Paulo, who won an unprecedented medal for Brazil in slalom water skiing (a non-Olympic discipline) at the Pan American Games. The athlete won bronze, behind only the North American Patrick Smith (gold) and the Dominican Robert Pigozzi (silver), both in the world top 10.
"We've been fighting since Rio 2007, building a team, going abroad a lot to train and this has been an achievement of almost 20 years. I'm the only one on the podium who isn't a professional, who has a job beyond skiing. So I'm very happy," celebrated the athlete from São Paulo, currently 48th in the world ranking.

Women's national volleyball team maintains unbeaten run at Pan American Games
Also on Monday (23), the women's national volleyball team, already through to the semi-finals, maintained their unbeaten run in the competition. The alternative team led by coach Paulo Coco beat Puerto Rico 3 sets to 0 (25/15, 25/22 and 25/21) in the last match of the group stage. Without losing a single set in the competition, Brazil finished top of their group. Their opponents will be announced after the quarter-finals finish at 8pm on Monday (23).

The top scorer in today's match was Sabrina, who scored 18 points. She was joined on the court by Naiane, Maiara Basso, Helena, Lorena, Larissa and libero Lais. In came Aline, Tainara and Luzia.
"It was a very important game for us. I'm happy to be contributing to the team, doing my best for the team. Now we have to concentrate, study and work for the next game. Being here, in such a big competition, is being very special for me," said Sabrina, in a statement to the BOC.
