Brazil is standing out at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, even before the opening ceremony. Today, 27-year-old Ingrid Oliveira from Rio qualified for the diving final, guaranteeing an Olympic place if she wins gold. Additionally, Brazilian boxer Viviane “Tanque” Pereira also had a successful debut, beating Argentine Lorena Balbuena and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Brazil has the largest sports team in history at the Pan American Games, with 622 athletes and 11 reserves. The competition will distribute 100 direct places for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Competitions in different disciplines will begin on Saturday, with live broadcast on the Brazilian Olympic Channel on the internet.
