Tatiana Weston-Webb, when celebrating the victory, declared: “Next year is the Olympics and it’s a big left [wave] just like this. So it was great training for next year, at the Olympics. And it's an honor to always be at my team's side, representing Brazil, at their side for more achievements [...]. This gold represents everything.” The surfer already has a guaranteed place in the next edition of the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris (France) in 2024.
In stand up paddle (SUP), Brazil also won medals. Aline Adisaka took silver in the women's category, after being defeated by Colombian Isabella Gomez in the decision. Luiz Diniz won silver in the men's category, being surpassed by the American Zane Schweitzer.
Aline Adisaka was grateful for the opportunity to represent Brazil and spoke about the difficult conditions at sea: “I am very grateful to God for the opportunity to be here representing my country. Today the sea was intense, with very difficult conditions, and I am very happy to have reached this grand final, to have had good competitions. I thank everyone who was by my side to get me this far. I wouldn't get here alone, but mainly through God. Because I believe that everything has a purpose. If I’ve come this far, it’s to leave a message, to not give up on our dreams.”
Team Brazil also won medals in women's longboarding. Chloe Calmon took silver, losing to Peruvian Maria Fernanda Reyes in the final competition. Carlos Bahia won bronze in the men's category.
