Corinthians advance to quarter-finals of women's Copa Libertadores after beating Always Ready
Corinthians secured early qualification for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores for women after beating Always Ready (Bolivia) 6-0 on Monday night (9) at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogotá (Colombia).
Corinthians' victory was marked by the brilliant performance of striker Millene, who scored three goals, one of them with a beautiful shot that died in the corner of the opponent's goal. The other goals were scored by Fernandinha, Jaqueline and Tamires.
Gurias Coloradas also qualify early
Another Brazilian team to qualify for the quarter-finals was Internacional. Playing at the Pascual Guerrero stadium in Cali, the Gurias Coloradas beat América de Cali 4-2.
With the result, Internacional took the lead in Group D with six points, two ahead of Boca Juniors (Argentina), their opponents in the next match. The goals were scored by Sol, Eskerdinha, Letícia Monteiro and Belén Aquino for Internacional, while Wendy Natis and Catalina Usme scored for América de Cali.
Corinthians' next match is against Libertad Limpeño (Paraguay) at 5pm (Brasília time) on Thursday 12th.
