More than 6,714 registered for the Brazilian School Games (JEBs) 2023 are in Brasília to compete for medals in competitions between October 28th and November 8th. The championship, created in 1969, is considered the main school competition in the country. This year's edition has 18 sports and two more on display. The competitions are being held in 19 different sporting venues in the federal capital. Participants are students aged 12 to 14, enrolled in public and private educational institutions throughout Brazil. The competition also marks the debut of some teachers in large-scale competitions. The objective of JEBs is to encourage sport among young people and provide enriching experiences for their lives. At the end of the competitions, some athletes will be classified for the South American Games, which will take place in December, in Chile. The next edition of the JEBs will be held in Recife, in 2024. The complete schedule and competition locations are available on the Brazilian Confederation of School Sports website.
