Table tennis players Vitor Ishiy and Bruna Takahashi won an Olympic place for Brazil in the mixed doubles at the Pan American Games in Santiago, guaranteeing a place in Paris 2024. In the semi-final, the Brazilians beat Canadians Eugene Wang and Mo Zhang by 4 to 2. The fight for the gold medal will be against Cubans Jorge Campos and Daniela Fonseca. The final is scheduled for today, at 7:40 pm, Brasília time. The live broadcast is available on the Brazilian Olympic Channel website.

The Brazilian delegation has already won 35 Olympic places during the Pan American Games in Santiago, an increase of 17% compared to the previous edition in Lima, which qualified for Tokyo. Places in Paris were guaranteed in boxing, women's handball, equestrian, modern pentathlon, swimming and tennis.

Rogério Sampaio, general director of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and head of the delegation in Santiago, celebrated the result and stated that the idea is to continue classifying athletes.

The Brazilian delegation in Santiago is the largest in the country's history in international competitions, with a total of 621 athletes. Brazil occupies second place in the medals table, with 120 in total, behind the United States. Mexico is in third place.
