Palmeiras win and advance to the semi-finals of the women's Libertadores
Palmeiras took another step towards winning the women's Libertadores for the second time in a row. In a match played on Saturday (14), the team had no trouble beating Olimpia, from Paraguay, 6-0 and securing their place in the semi-finals. The goals were scored by Amanda Gutierres, Bia Zaneratto (twice each), Sâmia Pryscila and Laís Estevam. Palmeiras now face Atlético Nacional, from Colombia, for a place in the final. The match will take place on Tuesday 17th.
Impeccable performance
Palmeiras go into the semi-final with a perfect record, having won all four of their matches. The team has scored an incredible 21 goals so far and conceded none. The only blemish on their record came in the 4-3 win over Atlético Nacional in the group stage, when Palmeiras conceded three goals. Their opponents also booked their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Universidad de Chile.
Brazilian duel?
The other semi-final could be a Brazilian clash. The last two quarter-final matches will be played this Sunday (15) and involve two Brazilian teams. Corinthians, who had a 100% record in the group stage, face América de Cali at 17.30, while Internacional take on Colo-Colo at 20.30. Both games will be played at the Estadio Pascual Guerrero in Colombia.
The second semi-final of the women's Libertadores will take place on Wednesday (18) and the big decider is scheduled for next Saturday (21).
