Brazilian baseball makes history at the Pan American Games

Brazilian baseball won its third consecutive victory at the Pan American Games in Santiago (Chile) and advanced to the super-round, the decisive phase that will determine the finalists. On Tuesday (24), the Brazilian team beat Cuba 4-2 in a thrilling match. Before that, Brazil had already beaten Venezuela and Colombia, showing an impressive performance in Group B. The successful participation in the Pan is a boost for Brazilian baseball, which has been approved to be part of the program for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Next steps at the Pan

The Brazilian Olympic Channel website is broadcasting the Pan American Games live. Brazil are waiting to find out when their next match will be.

The top two teams from each group will compete in the super-round. Brazil, having finished first in the group stage, will have the advantage of playing just two matches in the decisive quadrangular. The second-placed team in the group will have to play three times.

Brazil's opponents in the super-round will be Panama and Mexico, who qualified from Group A. The third match in the quadrangular would be against the second-placed team in Group B, but as Brazil have won all their matches so far, they are exempt from this fixture by regulation.

The two best teams in the super round will compete for gold, while the worst will compete for the bronze medal.

Standout pitcher Felipe Natel

Today's game once again saw a brilliant performance from pitcher Felipe Natel, known as Pelé, who had already stood out in the win against Venezuela. However, he left the field injured before the end of the match, after being hit by a ball on the foot. Enzo Sawayama and André Rienzo came on in his place and, even with difficulties, managed to hold off Cuba's attack.
