Brazilian athletics win gold and silver in women's discus throw
On Monday (30), Brazilian athletics performed exceptionally well in the women's discus throw at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Izabela Rodrigues, from Adamatina (SP), won the gold medal with a mark of 59m63. Paraiba's Andressa Morais won the silver medal with a distance of 59m29. Jamaica's Samantha Hall came third with 59m14.
In addition to these achievements, Brazil still has the chance to stand on the podium in other disciplines this evening. They are: the women's long jump, the men's discus throw, the women's 10,000-meter race and the mixed 4 x 400-meter relay. With these two medals, Brazil now has three podium finishes in athletics at the Pan Santiago Games. The first was won on Sunday (29) in athletics, with Caio Bonfim taking silver.
