São Paulo City Hall announced on Thursday (19) that it will send a letter to PanAm Sports - the organization responsible for the Pan American Games - reiterating its intention to host the 2031 edition of the event. The document will be delivered by Cacá Viana, the city's Sports Secretary. He will meet with the president of the international organization, Chilean Neven Ilic, in Santiago, where the 2023 Games will be inaugurated tomorrow.

The city council also announced that during the event in Santiago, the São Paulo City Space - Casa Brasil will operate, with attractions that make reference to Brazilian culture, such as music and dance shows, among other activities.
The country's largest city considers itself prepared to host the event due to the structure and experience it acquired when it hosted the World Cup in 2014. In the press release, the city also puts itself forward as one of the possible hosts of the Women's World Cup in 2027, should Brazil be chosen as the country to host the competition.
The Pan American Games, now in their 19th edition, have already been hosted by Brazil twice. The first was in São Paulo in 1963 and the second in Rio de Janeiro in 2007.
As yet, there is no news of any other bids to host the 2031 edition. Between the current edition and the one that São Paulo is bidding to host, the 2027 Pan American Games will take place in Barranquilla (Colombia).
